There are a variety of reasons that can cause estrogen levels to change in women of all ages, however, both a decline or dominance of estrogen in the body can lead to a variety of health concerns and symptoms.
For instance, high levels may cause weight gain, severe premenstrual syndrome or low mood in females, while a decline can cause changes in the vagina such as dryness, itchiness or pain during intercourse. Vagifem is a form of hormone replacement therapy that works by releasing oestradiol hormone, to balances estrogen levels in the vagina.

Vagifem is mainly intended for intravaginal use. The correct procedure to follow is as follows:
- Clean your hands before and after using Vagifem
- Remove the applicator from its wrap.
- Position yourself in a comfortable position to insert the applicator with the vaginal tablet into your vagina as far as it can go without forcing it.
- Gently press the end of the applicator until you hear a click sound that signifies that the tablet has been released from the applicator.
- Remove the applicator from the vagina and carefully dispose of it.
