Elocon eczema cream is a potent topical corticosteroid and an anti-inflammatory treatment for eczema, psoriasis, and dermatitis. It reduces the discomfort that comes with redness, itching, and sore skin from eczema. Elocon cream is specially formulated to deal with skin and scalp conditions. It is elementary and practical to use. Elocon lotion and cream are safe for use on the moist scalp. The ointment is better for dry, scaling and fissured lesions.

Description

What is it?

Elocon Cream is a potent topical corticosteroid containing mometasone, used to relieve inflammation, itching, and redness associated with various skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and contact dermatitis. The cream formulation is suitable for moist or weeping areas of the skin, providing effective relief during flare-ups. It is not a cure but helps manage symptoms.

How Does it Work?

Mometasone, the active ingredient in Elocon, reduces inflammation by suppressing the immune response in the affected skin area. By applying a thin layer to the inflamed skin, the cream alleviates symptoms such as redness, itching, and swelling. It is usually applied once a day.

Warnings

  • Avoid using the cream if you have open sores.
  • Don't use Elon cream for more than five days. 
  • Do not cover any treated areas with bandages or plasters.
  • Avoid applying the lotion in significant quantities
  • Do not use in or around the eyes, including eyelids.
  • Elocon is not recommended for children under the age of 2.

Directions

Follow guidance from your healthcare provider and read the instructions before using Elocon.

  • Apply a small amount of Elocon cream and rub in the crusty skin until it disappears.
  • Use Elocon cream once daily.
  • Ensure to follow the prescription and complete the entire course of treatment to prevent redness and itchy skin from reoccurring.

Ingredients

The active ingredient in Elocon is mometasone. 

Elocon cream inactive ingredients are isopropyl alcohol, propylene glycol, hydroxypropyl cellulose, sodium dihydrogen phosphate dihydrate, phosphoric acid, purified water.

Side Effects

Side effects when using the cream are very minimal. If you experience any, they may include;

  • Allergic skin reactions like burning, stinging, itching and tingling.
  • Bacterial and secondary skin infections.
  • Acne.
  • Thinning of the skin.
  • Red marks with associated prickly heat.
  • Loss of skin colour.
  • Excessive hair growth.
  • Softening of the skin and stretch marks.
  • Blurred vision.
