Description

What is it?

Elleste Duet is a form of combined HRT used to alleviate symptoms of menopause in women who have not had a hysterectomy. It contains two hormones: estradiol (a form of oestrogen) and norethisterone (a progestogen). The combination of these hormones helps to balance the body's hormone levels, thereby reducing common menopausal symptoms such as hot flushes, night sweats, mood changes, and vaginal dryness.

As a cyclical treatment, the first 16 tablets in a cycle in the Elleste Duet pack contain estradiol only. The final 12 tablets consist of a combination of norethisterone and estradiol. This reduces the risk of cancer and causes a regular period. There are three types of Elleste Duet. The 16 white tablets consist of 1mg estradiol in the 1mg pack; the 12 green tablets contain 1mg estradiol and 1mg norethisterone. The 16 orange tablets comprise 2mg estradiol in the 2mg pack; the 12 grey tablets comprise 1mg norethisterone and 2mg estradiol. Elleste Duet Conti tablets contain 2mg estradiol and 1mg norethisterone in all the white tablets.

How Does it Work?

Elleste Duet works by supplementing the body's natural hormone levels, which decrease during menopause. Estradiol helps replace the oestrogen, reducing symptoms associated with menopause, while norethisterone provides progestogen to protect the lining of the uterus from the potential adverse effects of oestrogen-only HRT
