It belongs to the antifungal group of medicines and is particularly useful for treating infections that have reached the nail bed. The treatment timeline varies based on the severity of the infection, taking approximately 6 months for fingernails and 9 to 12 months for toenails to show complete results. Regular and consistent application is key to success.
A chemical in fungus called ergosterol causes nail infections. Amorolfine works by stopping the production of ergosterol. Without the chemical, the fungus stops growing, and its cells break down. The nail continues to grow, removing the infectious part until it becomes healthy.
