Adcal-D3 Chewable Tablets are a calcium and vitamin D3 supplement, specially formulated to help maintain strong bones and teeth, particularly in individuals at risk of or suffering from osteoporosis. Each tablet contains 1500mg of calcium carbonate (providing 600mg elemental calcium) and 400 IU of vitamin D3, making it effective in addressing calcium and vitamin D deficiencies. Vitamin D3 assists in the absorption of calcium from the diet, while calcium plays a key role in bone structure and function.
Adcal-D3 is often prescribed for elderly individuals, post-menopausal women, and those who are unable to get enough calcium or vitamin D from their diet alone. The chewable tablets, available in lemon and tutti-frutti flavors, are easy to take and can be chewed or sucked, making them convenient for those who have difficulty swallowing tablets.
Regular use of Adcal-D3 helps prevent conditions like rickets in children and osteomalacia in adults, both caused by prolonged calcium deficiency. These chewable tablets are recommended as part of a balanced diet and healthy lifestyle for optimal bone health
Do not take Adcal-D3 if: you are allergic to its ingredients such as vitamin D3, calcium carbonate or any other ingredient; you are allergic to soya or peanut. Adcal-D3 consists of soya oil. Do not use if you have high levels of calcium in the blood or a history of kidney stones. Consult a doctor if you are allergic to any ingredients or have underlying conditions like sarcoidosis.
Warnings and precautions: Contact your pharmacist prior to taking Adcal-D3. Let them know if the level of calcium in your urine (hypercalciuria) or in your blood is high (hypercalcemia); if you are uncertain you will be advised by your doctor; have kidney problems; have an intolerance to some sugars; are on any other medication, even the ones you may have purchased without prescription.
Always take Adcal-D3 exactly as prescribed by your doctor or pharmacist. Check with your medical personnel if you are unsure. Adults, elderly, and children above the age of 12: 2 tablets taken twice a day, preferably one in the morning and another one in the evening. You should chew the tablets and not swallow whole. Children below the age of 12: Children under the age of 12 must not be given Adcal-D3.
