Period Pain is a normal part of the menstrual cycle and most women experience it at some point. Period pain, or dysmenorrhea, involves painful menstrual cramps caused by uterine contractions. Pain can present in intense spasms or a dull, constant ache, and can spread to the back and thighs. NSAIDs and hormonal contraceptives, as well as lifestyle changes like regular exercise and heat application, can treat period pain. Severe cases may require further medical evaluation to rule out underlying conditions like endometriosis.
